NEW: Ridely Launches Groundbreaking Horse Welfare Score; Helping to Close the Equine Care Education Gap

Ridely, the world’s leading equestrian training app, has launched the Horse Welfare Score—a first-of-its-kind, measurable and gamified learning experience designed to close critical knowledge gaps in everyday horse care and welfare.

The initiative sets out with an ambitious goal: to first educate a minimum of 50,000 riders in essential, evidence-based horse welfare practices.

“We realized we were perfectly positioned to make a real impact,” said Ingrid Sundqvist, Ridely’s CEO and Founder. “We already had the platform and years of data and experience on how to create engaging, bite-sized content that resonates. With the Horse Welfare Score, we’ve built on this knowledge, added gamification and measurability, and made it really fun and engaging.”

The Horse Welfare Score equips riders with key insights to make better, more informed decisions for their horses—whether it’s recognising pain-related behaviors, improving environment and nutrition, hoof and body care, rehab, ethical training, science-backed tack fit, horse management, or understanding stress signals.

The content is scientifically grounded and expert-backed, created in collaboration with Equitation Science International and other respected organizations, brands, NGO’s, veterinarians, and equine researchers.

“Most welfare issues don’t come from cruelty,” Sundqvist added. “They come from people simply not knowing better. That means we can do something about it—through education.”

The initiative is designed to be mobile-first, allowing riders to learn on the go—whether at the barn, on the bus, or at home. It’s not only for individuals: Ridely also offers dedicated tools for educators, making it easy for trainers, instructors, and welfare professionals to share the content with their students.

This accessibility ensures that riders from all backgrounds and experience levels—especially those in grassroots and amateur communities, where formal welfare education is often lacking—can take part from anywhere in the world.

With thousands of global users already engaging with Ridely’s training tools, the platform is uniquely positioned to deliver this next-level welfare education at scale—quickly, effectively, and with measurable results.

Ridely is also partnering with forward-thinking brands, federations, insurers and welfare advocates across the equestrian world to expand the program’s reach, and rally collective impact as an alliance of “brands that care”.

“Our vision is to build a global community of educated, empowered riders who prioritize their horses’ wellbeing every day. If we work together, educating 50,000 riders is just the beginning,” said Sundqvist.
